LASRAB Accessibility Statement

The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) is committed to providing inclusive, equitable, and accessible services to all users, regardless of ability, disability, or personal circumstances. We recognize that accessibility is a shared responsibility, essential to our mission of preserving and sharing the historical and administrative records of Lagos State for public benefit.


Our Accessibility Principles

  • Equal Access: Everyone has the right to access LASRAB’s physical locations, services, information, and resources.

  • Proactive Improvement: We regularly review and upgrade our facilities, systems, and content to remove existing barriers.

  • Compliance: We strive to meet or exceed applicable accessibility standards, including:

    • Lagos State and Federal Republic of Nigeria disability and accessibility laws

    • International best practices in archives and public sector accessibility


Physical Accessibility

  • LASRAB’s facilities at Magodo GRA, Ikeja, are equipped with ramps, elevators, accessible entrances, and restroom facilities.

  • Designated parking spaces are available for visitors with mobility impairments.

  • Research rooms offer accessible workspaces, seating, and support services for visitors with physical disabilities.

  • Trained staff are available on-site to provide personalized assistance upon request.


Digital Accessibility

  • LASRAB is actively improving its online presence to ensure:

    • Compatibility with screen readers and assistive technologies.

    • Adjustable text sizes and color contrast options.

    • Clear navigation and consistent page structures.

    • Descriptive alternative text for images, videos, and media.

    • Keyboard navigability for all functions.

  • We continuously monitor our website and online platforms for accessibility compliance and update content to meet evolving standards.


Communication & Alternative Formats

  • LASRAB can provide records and publications in alternative formats (e.g., large print, Braille, audio recordings, electronic text) upon request.

  • Communication support (such as sign language interpreters or language translation services) may be arranged for official events, guided tours, or public programs with advance notice.

  • Printed materials are designed to be clear, legible, and easy to understand.


Staff Training & Awareness

  • LASRAB staff receive ongoing training in accessibility awareness, customer service for persons with disabilities, and inclusive communication.

  • Staff are empowered to address accessibility concerns promptly and sensitively.


Feedback & Continuous Improvement

We value feedback from all users and view accessibility as a continuous process of improvement. We encourage users to inform us of any barriers they experience while interacting with LASRAB, whether in-person or online.
