MR. HAMZAT, NAJEEM OYEDEJI

Mr. Hamzat, Najeem Oyedeji, is a seasoned Archivist, Records Manager, and Information Management expert with over 15 years of experience in the field. He currently serves as the Head of Records Department at the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), where he plays a pivotal role in developing standards and guidelines for regulation, control and management of government records across the Lagos State Public Service.
With a strong academic background, Mr. Deji Hamzat holds a Master of Archives, Records, and Information Management (MARIM) as well as an M.Sc. in Sociology from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His expertise spans across project management, leadership, communication, and the use of Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) for effective record-keeping.
Mr. Hamzat has held various leadership roles, including serving as Project Coordinator for the 2023 Stakeholders' Forum for the Development of Records Retention and Disposal Schedules. He is a Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Archivists, a Senior Professional Member of the Institute of Information Management – Africa, a Member of the International Council on Archives, and a Member of the Lagos Studies Association. His contributions to the profession have earned him multiple awards and certifications.
Before his career in archives and records management, he gained experience as a Sales Representative at AIICO Insurance PLC and worked as a Personal Assistant to the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Information and Strategy.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Hamzat is passionate about reading, teaching, traveling, sightseeing, and playing table tennis. A native of Iwo in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State, he is married and dedicated to advancing records and archives management in Nigeria.
